It’s been a while since I’ve done a post, but this is certainly worth a mention – support the Tour de Lounge at www.tourdelounge.com ! The Tour de Lounge was founded by a friend of mine (Grozzi) back in 2010 when his girlfriend at the time (now wife) was undergoing chemo treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Grozzi was so bored hanging around the unit being the caretaker that he thought riding his exercise bike while watching the Tour de France would help him kill some time. It wasnt long before the bike had pole position in front of the TV and Grozzi felt he was riding in the peloton itself. Grozzi sent weekly updates to friends and family about the health of his girlfriend, which gradually morphed into updates about his performance in the Tour de Lounge. The caretaker ended up turning into the Tour de Lounge athlete and appointed the chemo patient as his Tour Manager though Grozzi often complained about lack of commitment from his Tour Manager. From it’s inagrual year with only one rider word about The Tour quickly spread and it has grown each year. Now in it’s third year the Tour de Lounge has a peloton 35 strong! In addition to churning out hundreds and even thousands of painful kilometres without even moving an inch each member of The Tour is also raising money for a really worthy cause: The Leukaemia Foundation. The Leukaemia Foundation receives no government funding and relies on money raised from community events to continue to support patients and their families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or related blood disorder. So from its humble beginnings The Tour now gives back to the very cause it was inspired by! The Tour de Lounge is fun event for a serious cause, make a donation, show your support and make a difference: www.tourdelounge.com/donate.html
