OK Google command doesn’t work on Nexus 5

I’ve been speaking to my new Nexus 5 handset for almost 24 hours and it’s been an awkward one-way conversation as the OK Google command hasn’t provoked any response, up until now . . . It turns out that, as it stands, the voice activated search command “OK Google” only works when the default language is set to English (United States):
settings > language & input > language >English (United States)The only real clue is that something was awry is a subtle difference in the microphone search icon: Once the language settings have been changed the microphone icon gets a complete fill and a notification appears in the search box prompting you to try the new voice command. I’m assuming this has something to do with the fact that voice commands have only been fully tested and developed for US input and once Google has aggregated enough polite enquiries in the Queens English these commands will be rolled out for UK input (it may already be available in a few others). In the meantime, here’s a handy list of voice commands to try in your best stateside accent:https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2842392?hl=en “OK Google, when will voice activated commands be available in other languages?”
